RAMSES
RFID Augmented Module for Smart Environmental Sensing
RAMSES is an Augmented RFID Tag with sensing and computing capabilities.
RAMSES relies on a new-generation RFID chip with a dual interface: a wired I2C interface managed by an ultra-low-power TI MSP430 MCU and a wireless UHF RFID Class-1 Generation-2 interface for communication with the reader.
RAMSES is self-powered by an RF energy-harvesting circuit enhanced by a DC-DC charge pump in Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) technology but it is equipped also with a CR2032 lithium battery for Battery-Assisted-Passive (BAP) operations.
RAMSES is able to perform sensing and computing tasks. The communication with the interrogating reader uses the zero-power backscattering modulation.
Indoor performance:
10 meters of communication range in fully-passive mode
20 meters of communication range in BAP mode
Available sensors
- Digital TEMPERATURE sensor
- Digital AMBIENT LIGHT sensor
- Digital PRESSURE sensor
- Digital 3-axis accelerometer
